Hey everyone! My name is Frank Bell and I am a rising junior concentrating in Finance and Entrepreneurship. I am from Boston, but lived in the Bay Area from 7th grade all the way through high school, so I got to experience living on both coasts. It is definitely cool to watch the Warriors dominate the NBA and the 49ers potentially get good again, but my heart definitely lies with Boston sports. I am a huge Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics fan and I think its going to be a great year. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first two years at BC, and am very excited to get back to school. Things I do outside of the classroom at BC are intramural sports, Eagle Volunteers, hang out with friends, and try to get to as many sports games as possible. My love for sports started at a very young age, and I played sports my whole life. As a kid it was a little bit of everything, but than it high school I only played Lacrosse and Basketball. Some of my best friends in the world are from those teams, and I am definitely excited to watch BC Football and Basketball surprise some people across the country.
This spring I will be going abroad to Madrid, and I am very excited about the opportunity to travel and explore a place that is completely new to me. I am going to the the University of Carlos III in Madrid, which I have heard nothing but great things about, but it is still a big change. The thing that made it hard for me when choosing to go abroad was leaving such great friends for an entire semester, and giving up my very serious football career
.I am extremely excited about this Tech Trek class because it is an incredibly unique opportunity to see how companies are successfully built and run. I am really excited to get a sense of the different companies cultures and hear what the leaders have to say.
Last summer I interned at a sales enablement company and was cold-calling and trying to book meetings, and this summer i did business development at a construction company in Boston. Both experiences were phenomenal, and I learned a lot. Besides learning a lot at this companies, I also learned about myself. I am interested in technology and early stage start-ups with room for growth and development. It was very engaging to do sales, and I learned a lot about real estate development this past summer, but technology startups are going to influence the future of the world, and generally possess a culture that is very attractive to me.
I expect that diving deep into each of the companies through case studies and then getting the chance to visit them will allow us all to learn more about a business and how it is created and maintained in a way that we have never been able to in the past. Another expectation of mine is that learning about the leaders of these companies and what their goals for their businesses are will leave an impact on us, and will help us as we move on and enter that world after BC. More than anything I really expect to learn in a way that is unlike the typical college class. This opportunity is incredibly unique and I could not be more excited to learn from some of the most influential people in the technology world and with all of you! I look forward to meeting you all!
